In the wake of last week’s tragic events, we, at Schiller International University, would like to express our solidarity with the French people and our support for the freedom of expression, tolerance and the respect of differences, values that are fundamental to a university’s mission. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the victims of the terrorist attacks, not forgetting that the French university community lost one of our own with the death of Bernard Maris, Professor at the Institut d’études européennes at the University of Paris VIII – Vincennes-Saint-Denis, and contributor to Charlie Hebdo.
The Paris campus will follow the recommendations of the Plan Vigipirate, the security measures of the Ministry of the Interior, in order to guarantee a safe environment for its students, faculty and employees. These measures will remain in place until further instructions from the Paris Prefecture of Police. We remain attentive as well to the State Department advisory updates published on the US Embassy in Paris website.
By respecting these precautionary measures, we wish to provide students the best conditions in the safest environment possible so that they can take advantage of the very best Paris and the Paris campus of Schiller International University have to offer.
